Robert Romulas is the pen name of Bob Schuch.  He is currently selling Acura automobiles in Los Angeles.  Robert has spent his life absorbing America. He grew up traveling on a carnival with his father, a fire-eater, tattoo artist, knife thrower and petty con man.  Robert’s mother who wanted nothing to do with this gypsy type of life “rescued” Robert so he could become “normal’.  Robert entered our fine school system at the ripe age of eleven and quickly progressed to a university degree in English and Journalism.

He began and ended his professional writing on a radio program called “Business Briefly”. The career was even briefer.  He then got gig writing Tour folders for a bus company.  Robert came to the realization that writing for the Man was not only not creative, but downright sucked.  Then began a progression of jobs that included working on cars as a mechanic (real dirty man), inside sales for General Electric, purchasing agent for Sedco drilling Co., life underwriter for State Farm Insurance, salesman for the Polk City Directory, American Life and Accident salesman (Agent of the year 1978), salesman for Dun and Bradstreet and a smattering of in-between jobs such as selling flashlights door to door when times were really hard.  Robert’s biggest loves are science fiction movies and books. His biggest influence, beyond having damn near done everything and been everywhere, is Scientology.  Arthur C. Clark’s statement that “any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” pretty well sums up Robert’s opinion of Scientology.  Robert and his wife Janetta have been students of Scientology for 15 years.  Among the jobs listed above you can add one year working for the Scientology organization in Clearwater, Florida.  By the way, Janetta has been Robert’s wife on this roller coaster of a life for 35 years.

Zoldan was written shortly after starting Scientology. His enthusiasm for life and for writing again had been greatly rekindled by the Scientology experience.  However, not rekindled enough to finish it, Janetta took that upon herself.  Robert, who is probably a genius, has many undeveloped ideas for stories.  Perhaps the publication of Zoldan will get this lazy genius off his duff and give us some more exciting and inventive stories like Zoldan.
